ADMISSIONS FOR 2012

We are open for admissions for 2012. Forms may be downloaded from the DOWNLOADS page and submitted to the school after 1 February 2012. The fee structure is as follows:

Junior Wing (Classes 5-8): Nu.3000/month.

This is only Nu. 500 more expensive than other primary schools in Thimphu but we provide well qualified teachers even for our junior students. The campus is more spacious and equipped for young students.

Senior Wing (Classes 9-12): Nu.4000/month.

This includes the dayboarding program for activities, tutorials and sports until 5pm everyday. Our class sizes on average will not exceed 26 students per section so this guarantees your child individual attention in the classroom.

For details please review other pages of this website. If you have more questions please send your enquiries to admissions@pelkhil.edu.bt.

WANT TO LEARN MANDARIN IN BHUTAN?

Given the growing relevance of China in our region especially during our children’s time, many parents are opting to provide their children with the opportunity to learn Mandarin, the language of the Chinese mainland, Singapore and Taiwan. The idea of learning Chinese in Bhutan sounds almost alien but asking this question has now become relevant.

At Pelkhil we are considering offering Mandarin as a course after school (no board exam to start with) for both students and adults, and we would like to know what you think. If you are a student or have children going to school, and would like to have this opportunity, please write to us and let us know your thoughts. We can hire a teacher only if there are enough takers!

Alternatively you can leave your comment below!

BT DOMAINS FINALLY BACK!

Seems like TashiCell is having problems and so the connection has again been very irregular lately. (29/12/11)

——————————————-

Website is up and running but still some consistency issues in access from our host. (22/12/11)

——————————————-

Our website was down all day today 18 December, as the account had been ‘suspended’ by Druknet for ‘non-payment of dues’. In fact, the reason seems to be that with the migration of our site to the new server, the entire process of opening a new account had to be done which in turn triggered a new billing cycle even though all fees had been paid. Fortunately the site is back up now.

——————————————–

Infections have been persistent and almost instantaneous and we’ve struggled with cleaning up our site. Druknet assures us that with a migration to a more secure server, this should no longer happen. So this is the last re-installation that will be done on druknet. If there are any more infections we will most likely shift our hosting in the hope that the infections and headaches finally go away!

——————————————–

There has been intermittent access to the internet, especially for those with druknet accounts. For the past 3 days most domains hosted in Bhutan, those with the .bt extensions, were also totally inaccessible. This included pelkhil.edu.bt . Happily the system seems to be up again, let’s hope for good!

JAPANESE MAYOR VISITS PELKHIL

Mayor's delegation with Class 6

The Mayor of Kakamigahara City, Mr. Shin M. Mori visited the Pelkhil campus in November. His delegation consisting of non-governmental and government officials were on a visit to Bhutan on a fact-finding mission. As a message of friendship he brought artwork and calligraphy  by grade 6 students at a school in Kakamigahara city, done specially for the grade 6 students at Pelkhil. Our class 6 students were most excited and immediately set out to prepare their own artworks in return. Their works were delivered to the school in Japan when the Pelkhil delegation went to attend the SAARC forum in Japan later in the month.

PELKHIL DELEGATES RETURN FROM JAPAN

Attending the forum orientation

Our boys and girls made quite a splash this November when they traveled to Japan! They were there to attend the SAARC Youth Forum on ”Recycling Oriented Societies” hosted by the Government of Japan. Looking smart and eye-catching in their gho, kira and tshoglham, they became the centre-piece in every event. They were also meticulous in their conduct, prompt in their timings, and active in their participation –  a joy for any event organizer!

TEACHERS TABLE TENNIS TOURNAMENT

The first faculty/management table tennis tournament was held on 2 December. After a gruelling 5 hour (with a lunch break) knock-out challenge there were 6 winners and runners-up. The standard was (not so) fantastic but the seeds have been sown for greater championships in the years to come. Pictures will be put up in the gallery. A video of the fine standard may be viewed here!
